PHOENIX (AP) — Arizona voters selected a successor on Tuesday to the late U.S. Rep. Raúl Grijalva, a progressive stalwart who represented the state for more than two decades in Congress.

Grijalva’s daughter, Adelita Grijalva , cruised to an easy win over Republican business owner Daniel Butierez, according to the Associated Press. She’ll fill the final 15 months of the late congressman’s term. Two third-party candidates were also on the ballot.

The AP called the race minutes after the unofficial results were released.

Despite the name recognition that came with her father’s legacy, Adelita Grijalva said she was running on her own record. She voiced her support for limiting immigration enforcement operations at schools, hospitals and churches. Grijalva will be the first Latina to repr
