Police have charged a 40-year-old man in Mount Isa with more than 70 child sex offences, which are alleged to have occurred over a 25-year period.

Officers from the Mount Isa Child Protection and Investigation Unit (CPIU) closed the operation Xray Wolfturn which resulted in the man being charged with 75 child sex offences, in relation to five children.

Police will allege the offences occurred between 2000 and 2025.

The man was charged with 55 counts of indecent treatment, eight counts of make child exploitation material, three counts each of rape and grooming, two counts each of unlawful sodomy and use internet to procure children, and one count each of possess child exploitation material and supply dangerous drugs to minor.

He was remanded in custody and is due to re-appear in Mount I
