A swimmer has drowned after getting into trouble at a popular beach on Wednesday.

Emergency services were called to Soldiers Beach at Norah Head on the NSW Central Coast just after 3pm.

“The man was pulled from the water unresponsive and treated by NSW Ambulance paramedics, however he died at the scene,” NSW Police said.

The man is yet to be formally identified but is believed to be aged in his 50s.

Police are investigating the circumstances of the fatal tragedy and a report will be prepared for the coroner.

The incident comes just days before the start of the 2025-26 beach patrol season on Saturday.
