Breaking: Punjab Cabinet clears prosecution of former minister in corruption case

Chandigarh, September 24, 2025: The Punjab Cabinet has approved the prosecution of former minister Sadhu Singh Dharamsot in a corruption case, marking a major step in the ongoing vigilance crackdown.
The Vigilance Bureau had registered an FIR against Dharamsot in June 2022. Subsequent investigations revealed that the former minister allegedly accepted a bribe of ₹1.67 crore.
The Cabinet has also decided that proceedings will be initiated under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA), 2022, to further strengthen the case.
A formal recommendation has been sent to the Governor to prosecute Dharamsot. Once approved, legal action against the former minister will move forward.
