COLUMBIA, S.C. — The National Hurricane Center is currently issuing advisories on Hurricane Gabrielle, which is located over the central subtropical Atlantic. In addition to Gabrielle, the NHC is monitoring two other systems with the potential for development.

The first system, designated AL93, is a tropical wave situated about 700 miles east of the Leeward Islands. Showers and thunderstorms within this disturbance are becoming more organized, and conditions in the region appear favorable for further development.

A tropical depression is likely to form within the next couple of days as the system tracks west-northwestward to northwestward into the western tropical Atlantic, staying well north of the Leeward Islands.
