The Porterville Veterans Memorial Building was brimming with excitement and anticipation Friday evening as more than 200 guests gathered for the first La Gente Awards Ceremony. The landmark event, which celebrated leadership, service, and the spirit of community, marked the beginning of a new tradition in Porterville. Organizers shared the evening drew such an overwhelming response some guests even had to be turned away at the door.
The evening began with an invocation by Porterville Vice Mayor Ed McKervey, followed by a lively rendition of the National Anthem performed by La Patrona, better known as KTIP Jam’n 101.3 FM.
