ALBANY, NY (WUTR/WFXV/WPNY) -- The New York State Department of Environmental Conservation -- along with Governor Kathy Hochul announced on Wednesday that parts of New York State, including Northern Herkimer County, are now under a drought warning.

The announcement -- released on Wednesday, September 24 -- puts 12 different counties in the Adirondacks and Southern Tier of New York State under the drought warning, the second least severe of the four drought advisories. The rest of New York State -- including Otsego, Oneida and southern Herkimer Counties -- are still under the lowest advisory, a Drought Watch.
