The Missouri State Highway Patrol has activated its new Strategic Traffic Operations and Rapid Mobilization or (STORM) team. Lieutenant Eric Brown told Missourinet that the STORM team has been operational since September 1, and the unit is focused on cracking down on criminal activity and hazardous driving across the state.

“And they’re also going to be used to assist in problem areas like construction zones that are having significant problems that are going to be used to address these organized street takeover events and the stunt driving the operations and things that that you’re seeing, especially in, you know, some of your higher population areas,” said Brown.

Brown told Missourinet that the Patrol’s Aircraft Division will play a frequent role in STORM operations.
