AMARILLO, Texas (KFDA) - As a part of National Suicide Prevention Month, Amarillo Police Department invites the public to participate in an awareness walk Friday.

The walk is dedicated to supporting law enforcement officers across the United States. They face critical incidents daily and it’s essential to acknowledge the mental challenges that can arise from those experiences.

Amarillo PD wants to break the stigma surrounding mental health in law enforcement — that reaching out for support is a sign of strength.

This event is about camaraderie, solidarity and building a strong community.

A hydration station and food trucks will be available to keep everyone refreshed.
