CHARLOTTE, N.C. (QUEEN CITY NEWS) -- As lawmakers consider legislative changes after the deadly light rail stabbing, one Charlotte leader says the option of federal enforcement in the city should not be taken off the table.

Interim City Councilmember Edwin Peacock spoke on Fox and Friends on Wednesday morning, where he discussed crime in Charlotte.

During the interview, Peacock referenced President Trump's deployment of the National Guard to Washington, D.C.

"That option needs to be considered," Peacock said. "Continue to heighten awareness on criminal activity in Charlotte. We certainly wanna see CMPD and our state officials help us as much as possible, but we have to keep that option on the table."
