LINCOLN COUNTY, N.C. (QUEEN CITY NEWS) — Lincoln County health officials issued a no-swim advisory on Wednesday after untreated sewage possibly leaked into Lake Norman.

At 4:30 p.m., the Lincoln County Health Director announced a sewage spill at Cricket Cove Court in Denver. Approximately 100 gallons of untreated sewage may have leaked into the cove in Lake Norman, officials say.

The spill was reportedly caused by a utility boring crew drilling into a marked low-pressure line.

The Killian Creek Wastewater Treatment Plant is taking water samples and putting out signs. Results from the testing will be sent to the County Public Utilities Department who will notify the Health Department.
