SPRINGFIELD, MO - While the Ozarks is finally getting some much-needed rain, the weather is leading to some delays for at least one road construction project in town.

On Tuesday, the City of Springfield had planned to open a newly rebuilt section of LeCompte Road between Division Street and a future intersection with an extended Eastgate Avenue. However, the rain this week has pushed back the opening date.

Marra Holt, a City of Springfield Communication Coordinator, explained that the rain has prevented workers from making final touches on the project, including striping work.

“Once we get a dry window, crews will be able to complete that work and reopen the Division Street to Springfield Underground (south entrance) segment shortly after. This should be completed within the next week,
