A Florida woman is facing charges after a firearm was recovered at Pittsburgh International Airport's security checkpoint Wednesday morning.

Allegheny County police said TSA officers found a handgun inside 58-year-old Stephanie Nicholas' carry-on bag just after 8 a.m. Advertisement

Nicholas, according to police, does not have a concealed carry permit.

She faces one misdemeanor charge.

FBI officials were also notified.

Officials are reminding travelers that if found with a firearm at a security checkpoint, you could face federal civil fines from TSA up to $10,000.

Repeat offenders can be fined up to $13,910.
