Fargo, N.D. (KVRR) – Local food banks may see more difficulties in determining how many people in their communities are going hungry.

That’s after the USDA announced that it will end the longstanding Household Food Security Report, calling it “redundant, costly, politicized, and extraneous.”

Great Plains Food Bank says that this report was an important part of how they compare local needs to the national level.

Despite the changes, they say they’ll be able to adapt to meet the need in the local community.

“The biggest thing is kind of the changes that are coming down the USDA and the government you know? Every couple days or months there’s a new adjustment and so we are doing our best to continue the work that we do and do it well.”
