DOTHAN, Ala (WDHN) -- An investigation is underway after a train smashed into a car east of Troy.
The crash occurred shortly before 5:10 p.m. in downtown Banks, at the intersection of Highway 29 and County Road 93.
Pike County Sheriff Russell Thomas tells WDHN that it appears a Nissan Altima was hit by the train while trying to cross the tracks.
The PCSO says the female driver was injured. The extent of her injuries is currently unknown.
The crash is under investigation by the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency.
