Biggest nurse-training facility in eastern Connecticut opens in Windham Hospital

WILLIMANTIC, Conn. — The largest nurse-training facility in eastern Connecticut is now open in Windham Hospital.

It’s the Eastern/HHC Center for Education, Simulation and Innovation – the result of a collaboration between Eastern Connecticut State University and Hartford HealthCare.

The 6,500-square-foot nursing simulation lab is located inside of the hospital at 112 Mansfield Ave. in Willimantic. It was created to help address the region’s shortage of healthcare professionals.

The space represents the launch of a strategic pipeline to prepare future nurses with the skills, confidence and clinical readiness necessary to meet the needs of modern healthcare, according to a release from Eastern and HHC on Wednesday.
