BOISE, Idaho — Golf is a sport that doesn't always seem accessible to everyone, but a local group seeks to be a bridge for Latinos in the game of golf.

Los Golferos 208 was formed by Alejandro Montalván and a group of friends to open a space in the sport.

"Latinos can play golf too," Montalvan said. "It's not just a sport that's, as they say, 'for the rich,' and for gringos, it's a sport for everyone."

The group was formed with the purpose of connecting Latino golfers in Idaho and sharing the love of the sport.

"The point is to bring people together, to connect, and well, to let everyone know that there are more than a few Latinos playing golf," said Sergio Mendoza, founder of Los Golferos. "Here in the state, there are quite a few of us."
