ROCK ISLAND, Ill. (KWQC) - A man was sentenced to 55 years in prison in the shooting death of a Rock Island man.
Derrick B. Nephew Jr. was found guilty of first-degree murder on June 6 on the fourth day of trial, according to court documents.
Nephew was arrested in the death of Omari Braxton, 21, of Rock Island, who was found dead on May 11 from a gunshot wound to the head, according to police.
Nephew was arrested May 12 on a first-degree murder warrant in Davenport.
He pleaded not guilty in 2024.
