BOSSIER CITY, La. - When Bossier City police officer Tre Morris was rushed to the hospital with gunshot wounds after a domestic violence standoff in Bossier City, his wife Jonnika’s world turned upside down.
Now, as he recovers at home, she says they’re surviving one day at a time — with the help of their community.
“He got his middle finger and his ring finger cut down to the knuckles, amputated. He also has a slash on his palm, and a bullet went through his calf muscle,” Jonnika explained. “He can’t use his left hand at all right now. It’s been tough.”
The couple has two children, a 7-year-old and a 7-month-old. Jonnika works 12-hour shifts as a nurse tech at a hospital but has taken time off to manage Tre’s recovery.
