Things aren't exactly looking up these days.
But the Tigers, well, they are ― now. For the first time in 155 days, the Tigers no longer are in first place in the American League Central, after losing to the Guardians, 5-1 , in Cleveland on Wednesday night.
Detroit's eighth consecutive loss gives Cleveland a one-game lead in the division with four regular-season games remaining, including the series finale at Progressive Field on Thursday. The Tigers had built a 15.5-game on the Guardians earlier this summer, and still led them by 11 games earlier this month.
"What we're watching," Tigers television man Jason Benetti said during Wednesday night's broadcast, "is as lifeless as we've seen in two years."
The Tigers have spent 184 total days in first place this season, including off-days,
