It’s nerve-wracking to watch people crossing busy Veirs Mill Road just south of University Boulevard in Wheaton, Maryland. The long stretch between two traffic lights means people risk their safety crossing in places where there are no crosswalks.

It’s where a 52-year-old woman was struck and killed by the driver of what police believe was a silver Audi Tuesday evening. The driver kept going.

Jude Tana Eteme says he believes that since so many people cross there, there should be a crosswalk or a traffic signal of some sort.

“I feel like if they just added a crosswalk here, it would make more sense,” he said.

Police want to talk to anyone who was in the area of Tuesday night’s crash and saw the silver Audi.
