MADISON, Wis. (WMTV) - Residents of Dairy Drive , a campground for people facing homelessness, gathered for one of the last times Wednesday night.
More than 20 people who live at the campground, some for as long as four years, will lose their homes on Friday when the city-approved demolition of Dairy Drive will begin.
The temporary campground was developed using federal COVID-19 relief funds. Without it, the City of Madison decided that continuing their operations would be too expensive, even after receiving an offer from the nonprofit, Madison Street Madison to pay all costs through the spring.
Hunter and Lucky are two people who have called Dairy Drive home. They have no idea where they will go on Friday after the campground is officially closed.
