TYLER, Texas — The East Texas State Fair has reached its halfway mark, with officials expecting record-breaking attendance. But for many families across the Pineywoods, the question remains: how affordable is the fair this year?
From ride tickets to food vendors, both guests and operators said they’re seeing noticeable price increases. While the fair remains a beloved tradition, families are finding themselves budgeting more carefully — and making tougher choices about where to spend.
“It’s a little bit too high. You can’t get too much bang for your buck,” Savian Lacy said, who attended the fair on Wednesday with his wife and children.
Lacy, like many parents, said ride costs are the biggest concern.
“Sixty-five tickets is $30, and when you have two kids, that’s only three rides each.
