NORFOLK, Va. (WAVY) — The winter months are nearing, and now is the time to make sure your home is ready to brace the cold.

The National Energy Assistance Directors Association projects this winter will be more costly if you warm your home with electricity or natural gas.

On average, it will cost 7.6% more to heat your home once the temperture drops, but that varies depending on your fuel type.

Electric customers could see their costs jump by more than $100, while natural gas will be up around $56, which could be a tough pill to swallow for some, but Dominion Energy has options available.
