The cause of a blaze on Stratford Road which caused delays after the major commuter route was closed has been revealed.
West Midlands Fire Service said crews were called to the A34, near to the junction with St Johns Road, in Sparkhill, at 5.15am today, Thursday, September 25.
It said a fire started accidentally in a takeaway kitchen.

Two fire engines and a 4x4 brigade response vehicle attended the incident.
Part of the road was closed with emergency services at the scene.
The fire was extinguished and there was no reports of any injuries.
A fire service spokesman told BirminghamLive: "Shortly before 5.15am on Thursday (25 September), we responded to Stratford Road, Sparkhill, Birmingham .
