This is the first arrest made by the SIT within hours of being set up to investigate the high profile death

In some swift action, the Special Investigation Team (SIT) of Assam Police investigating the death of cultural icon Zubeen Garg has arrested the legendary singer’s drummer Shekharjyoti Goswami from his Jalukbari residence near Guwahati. The arrest was made today afternoon.

SIT members were at the residences of other accused – Shyamkanu Mahanta, organiser of the North East India Festival and Siddharth Sharma, Zubeen’s manager.

The 9-member SIT was formed yesterday evening by Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma to ensure a thorough probe into the artiste’s death in Singapore on September 19. The SIT is headed by Special DGP CID Munna Prasad Gupta.
