Tropical Storm Humberto formed on Wednesday evening, and it's expected to become a hurricane this weekend, according to the National Hurricane Center .

Humberto is located about 465 miles east-northeast of the northern Leeward Islands.

The system is expected to move generally west-northwestward to northwestward into the western tropical Atlantic, well north of the Leeward Islands.

Steady strengthening is forecast during the next several days, and it's expected to become a hurricane Friday or this weekend.

The latest track keeps this system away from the United States.

Maximum sustained winds: 50 mph

Minimum central pressure: 1004 mb

General movement: NW at 8 mph
