Work has ceased for the 1.3 mile extension of the Maple Swamp Discovery Hill Trail spearheaded by the New England Mountain Bike Association (NEMBA) after a Conservation Commission meeting held on September 17.
A formal vote was not taken, but the commission approved of the project proposed for conservation lands during a meeting held back in June.
The 4.88-mile loop between the Discovery Hill and Oak Ridge trail networks is intended to provide safer and easier access to the Discovery Hill trail network and to fill a gap in the evolving Cape Cod Pathways network.
However, after a number of concerns were raised during the Conservation Commission meeting, assistant director of natural resources Jenna Silva said it would be best to halt the work for the time being.
