MEMPHIS, Tenn. - If you've spent any time driving around Memphis streets, you've likely seen a drive-out tag. Couple that with speeding, reckless driving, and lawlessness on the road, and it creates a frustrating experience for many Memphis drivers.
Memphis Police are looking to change that with a new effort to keep streets safe.
“Reckless driving, speeding, and drag racing—while these are dangerous, also dangerous is driving with no seatbelt on. Also distracted, driving, and impaired to driving," said Colonel Willie Mathena, MPD Traffic Division Commander.
FOX13 sat down with Mathena on Wednesday to talk about MPD's new special traffic enforcement to cut down on reckless driving and drive down the number of crashes in Memphis.
