ATLANTA, Ga. (Atlanta News First) - A DeKalb County police officer was involved in an early Wednesday morning shooting that stemmed from a traffic stop, according to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI).

The shooting incident happened just after 3 a.m. near Central Drive and Lancashire Circle, which is in unincorporated Stone Mountain.

The GBI said the officer pulled over Rodney Moore, 64, who had an active arrest warrant.

Moore told the officer he had a gun, and as the “officer attempted to place him under arrest, Moore was shot,” the GBI said.

Moore was taken to a hospital in critical condition.

The officer was not injured.

The GBI did not say what the active warrant for Moore was or if he is facing additional charges following the traffic stop.
