The torrential and persistent shower spells, which battered Uttarakhand this monsoon season, coupled with frequent weather alerts, has impacted the tourist footfalls in the world- renowned Valley of Flowers in Chamoli district, too. As per information received, while the number of domestic tourists declined compared to last year the number of foreign tourists has increased. Notably, the mid- July to mid-August is when the number of domestic and foreign tourists peak.
A total of15, 265 tourists have visited it from June 1 to September 23- 14, 876 Indian and 392 foreign tourists- the figure in 2024 in the same period was recorded at 18,641- 18358 Indian tourists and 283 foreign tourists.
