Following a routine check-up, doctors discovered an aggressive form of prostate cancer , but Rod insisted on keeping the news private.
In her new book 'Someone Like Me', Penny Lancaster, Rod's wife, described the wait for the results as "excruciating". Despite this, the singer remained focused on the future, even planning his next tour from the recovery room post-treatment.
Penny, however, found the secrecy difficult, feeling isolated without her usual support network to talk to. She described the period as an "agonising wait" in her book.
