Jasmine Entz had persuaded her boss at a Lethbridge dairy to let her have Beef to raise to ride, just like you would a horse

Alberta is known throughout the world for its beef.

And now Beef, a massive steer raised in southern Alberta, has become world-renowned, making it into the latest edition of the Guinness Book of World Records as the tallest living steer. Beef holds the record at 1.95 metres .

The 1,100-kilogram animal set the record in December 2023, when he was measured in Picture Butte, and appears in the record book’s 2026 edition.

Beef’s owner, Jasmine Entz, who lives on a Vulcan County acreage, said setting a world record is “pretty cool,” especially as she grew up reading the Guinness Book of World Records.
