FARGO — When it comes to unique diners with a true one-of-a-kind atmosphere, examples are rare. Cliches are common. On my last summer road trip, I could find more garage-themed restaurants than garages.
Small and unobtrusive places do exist. I ate a restaurant in Winnipeg a little while ago that didn’t have a sign or even publish an address. You made a reservation, and they sent you directions. It wasn’t being secretive. You just couldn’t find the place without knowing which parking lot to cross and which alley to walk down.
Big Bite Station in Fargo — which is not big and doesn’t resemble a station — is a little like this. It has a sign, but it’s written on a piece of paper taped to the door under the sign that tells you what it used to be: Sushi Burrito.
