Without naming US President Donald Trump, California Governor Gavin Newsom issued a stark warning about the future of democracy in the United States, saying he fears there may not be a presidential election in 2028 unless the nation addresses current political threats.
"I fear that we will not have an election in 2028. I really mean that in the core of my soul, unless we wake up to the code red of what's happening in this country," he said in an interview.
Newsom has Wednesday defended his push to redraw his state’s congressional map, saying the Democratic Party should take on President Donald Trump more aggressively.
