ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WROC) — Governor Kathy Hochul has appointed Brian Green as Monroe County District Attorney, replacing Sandra Doorley, who retired at the end of August.

Green has been a judge in the Town of Irondequoit while also serving as Senior Deputy County Attorney. Green is also an adjunct professor at Monroe Community College and served as deputy chief in the Major Felony Bureau of the D.A.'s office from 2008-2018.

In her statement, the Governor said, "I am confident that as top prosecutor, Brian will continue holding offenders accountable while supporting crime victims and contributing to a safer community for all.”

Green will hold the seat until a special election can be held next year.
