If you’re looking to buy a home in Washington, you may want to add another expense line to your budget: homeowners association or condo fees.

More than a quarter of “owned households” in the Evergreen State paid HOA or condo fees in 2024, according to the U.S. Census Bureau, which collected the data as part of its American Community Survey.

That’s higher than the national share, and it places Washington toward the top of the list among all 50 states and Washington, D.C.
