CINCINNATI (WXIX) - The medical team and staff at Cincinnati Animal CARE are looking for answers after they found a dog tied up to a gate with a gunshot wound.

It was early Thursday morning when staff found a female dog abandoned in front of the shelter’s intake lot.

The dog, which looks like a type of bulldog, has a brown and white coat and short legs, based on photos Cincinnati Animal CARE posted online.

After examining her, staff found a bullet wound on the dog’s abdomen, and rushed her into emergency, lifesaving care.

As of now, the dog is currently stable, the CARE team told FOX19 NOW.
