SPRINGFIELD--After 13 LONG years, the Springfield Cardinals finally recaptured the Texas League Championship, after defeating the Midland Rockhounds, 13-1 in the third and final game of the three-game series.
The dominant victory clinched the club's second Texas League Championship, and first since the 2012 season. Brycen Mautz earned the decisive victory to finish the postseason a perfect 2-0.
After a 10+ hour bus ride back to Springfield, the Cardinals were greeted in the players parking lot, by fans and team officials, celebrating the return of the hometown heroes. The players were worn out from the lengthy ride home, but they quickly came to life in the midst of the celebration.
