KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WATE) — Crews will officially break ground on a two-year, $18.9-million road improvement project in Knoxville next month to add turn lanes, a new greenway, and other improvements along Pleasant Ridge Road.

Knoxville Mayor Indya Kincannon will join students and staff at Pleasant Ridge Elementary School for a ground-breaking ceremony on Friday, October 3. According to a city release, the public safety around the school will be greatly enhanced with marked pedestrian crossings, new turn lanes, and a greenway across the street.

Turn lanes will be added at the school's driveway, as well as Walnoaks Road, Sullivan Road, Murray Drive. Wadsworth Drive, and Autumn Landing. Other upgrades include new sidewalks, the 1.25-mile greenway and utility upgrades.
