Maskwacis RCMP continue to investigate the sources of firearms recovered from crime scenes in Maskwacis and Wetaskiwin.
As part of the investigation, officers identified several firearms that had been illegally purchased.
Police have charged 38-year-old Maskwacis resident Eaglechild Smallboy with four counts of firearms trafficking and four counts of unauthorized transfer.
Smallboy was released after a hearing before a Justice of the Peace. His next court appearance is scheduled for Oct. 21, 2025, at the Alberta Court of Justice in Wetaskiwin.
“This is the second Maskwacis resident charged in the last 30 days with bringing these crime guns into the community,” said Cpl. Troy Savinkoff.
