Indianapolis residents who pushed back on Google's plans to build a massive data center project here have an ally in former presidential candidate and U.S. Sen. Bernie Sanders.

Sanders, a Democratic socialist, took to X on Sept. 25 to praise Hoosiers for "fighting back" and taking action to get the Franklin Township data center plan shelved. Sanders' comment followed Google's Sept. 22 decision to withdraw its proposal from the Indianapolis City-County Council ahead of a critical vote.
