BLOOMINGTON – A standoff that lasted over five hours on Wednesday evening concluded with law enforcement taking a man into custody for a mental health emergency detention.

The incident began when the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office was notified of a court order for a subject at a residence on South Bernard Drive.

At approximately 3:05 p.m., Monroe County deputies arrived at the residence and saw the individual, along with a possible firearm. The person was non-compliant, refusing to exit the home or communicate with officers. Deputies secured a perimeter and obtained a warrant to enter the residence.
