ROCK HILL, S.C. — A South Carolina man will spend more than two decades in prison in connection with a drug trafficking organization with ties to Columbia.

The U.S. Attorney's Office for South Carolina announced on Thursday that 54-year-old Sean Demetrius Goins was the leader of an organization that operated between that town and Columbia and dealt heavily in the fentanyl trade.

Authorities said his May 2023 arrest initially led to the recovery of four guns, two of which were stolen, ammunition, three pounds of fentanyl and one pound of cocaine. However, an ongoing investigation later tied him to more than 25 pounds of fentanyl and a smaller amount of an unspecified drug with similar effects to it.
