As Omaha prepares to celebrate boxing champion Terence "Bud" Crawford this weekend , KETV spoke to the mariachi band that opened for him just before his landmark fight.
Like Crawford, the band has deep roots in the Omaha community.
Rosendo Robles' decades-long friendship with Crawford started with a spar.
"I had a punching bag, and then he put some gloves on, came to the same punching bag, and, you know, try to take it from me," Robles said. "We started kind of like competing a little bit, competing a little bit as kids."
The rivalry soon became a friendship, as the punching bag formed a bond between the two fighters.
Together, Robles and Crawford made a name for their hometown.
"We'd be ranked in the United States from Omaha, Nebraska. You see the rankings New Jerse
