PERRY, Ga. — A proposal to build 358 new homes on about 90 acres off Kings Chapel Road is drawing attention as Perry continues to grow .
On Sept. 2, the city received the development plans, which call for converting farmland and wildlife areas into a large residential subdivision.
Valinda Wilson, a lifelong Houston County resident, expressed concern about the effects of rapid growth.
“It concerns me a little bit,” Wilson said. “It’s just a little bit too much.”
Wilson worries about increasing traffic problems and a rise in crime associated with the city’s expansion.
“I just feel like it’s too much congestion. You’ve got your traffic issues. With growth, you … you get crime. The crime rate increases,” Wilson said.
