It has been said, “Whatever happens to the water happens to the people.” This sentiment is particularly true in Mashpee. Our waters are the lifeblood of our community. If Mashpee’s water quality continues to erode, so will its recreational activities, tourism and property values—for everyone in the town.
As all residents know, the town is engaged in a multiyear effort to clean Mashpee’s waters. A very important next step is a cluster wastewater system proposed for north of Mashpee-Wakeby Pond. Approval of Article 4 at Town Meeting on October 20 and in the town-wide election on October 25 will secure the funding needed to move this project forward. I urge residents to vote “yes” on Article 4.
