HONOLULU (Island News) – The Honolulu Police Department (HPD) arrested a man after he allegedly assaulted a police officer on Thursday morning.

According to HPD, officers responded to Ena Road for a complaint made by a 44-year-old man at approximately 10:23 a.m.

After confirming his identity, officers recognized the 44-year-old man in connection with several unrelated crimes. When officers informed the man that he was under arrest, he attempted to leave.

While officers tried to arrest him, the man then apparently bit an officer on the forearm, which caused an injury.

The police officer was taken to a nearby hospital where he was treated and listed in good condition.
