BASILE, La. (KLFY) -- Multiple nonprofit organizations have filed a 19-page complaint against the South Louisiana ICE Processing Center in Basile, alleging abuse and denial of medical care for detainees.
The center in Basile is operated by the private prison company GEO group under contract with the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement.
The complaint, submitted to federal offices and the Department of Homeland Security on September 15, 2025, accuses the facility of sexual abuse, physical assault, verbal harassment, LGBTQ+ discrimination and violations of constitutional rights.
Several organizations, including Robert F. Kennedy Human Rights, the Louisiana ACLU, the National Immigration Project and the Southeast Dignity Not Detention Coalition took part in filing the complaint.
