AURORA, Mo. — An Aurora man has been charged after an alleged domestic assault left a woman with a fractured spine earlier this month.
According to online court dockets, James Phillips Hales Jr., born in 1985, is charged with first-degree domestic assault — serious physical injury in Lawrence County Associate Court.
Aurora-Marionville Police Department (AMPD) officers were dispatched to a home in Aurora around 10:34 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 13. When they arrived, they found the victim hunched over, in severe pain and barely able to walk.
The victim told police she and Hales had gotten into a physical argument. They were unsure who threw the first hit but said she was pushed to the ground and had their legs shoved down, causing a loud pop.
